Peter Borisov

My name is Peter, and in the summer of 2023, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Chemical Engineering and Contemporary Materials program. I was interested in the course as it focuses on the origins of many natural phenomena. The units studied in the program explain the reasoning of scientists – from the hypothetical and the real experiments they carried out, to the steps they took to describe the observed phenomena. This approach greatly improved my critical thinking – a valuable professional skill.

The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy allows students to participate in research throughout their studies, in different departments, such as the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering, where I work. Being involved in the ongoing projects there helped me gain practical skills in the laboratory and get acquainted with the numerous experimental techniques and apparatus available. The many experiments I performed helped me learn that the results we obtain are not always the ones we expect, and the search for explanation calls for the acquired critical thinking to come into play. The key is to look for the cause-effect relationship (if it is confirmed, life has meaning).

The aforementioned has been the reason for me to continue my studies at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, and the research activity at the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering. Here I’ve had the opportunity to participate in international and national conferences, to visit and learn about the work of different manufacturers, but also to work in a fruitful environment.
